Three Ways To Sell Advertising On Your New Boxing Ring

If you run a boxing club and your goal is to put on a number of boxing events throughout the year, you should be thinking about ways to get advertisers on board. Local companies can sponsor your events in several ways, including you agreeing to allow them to hang advertising materials around the venue. It can be useful to think about using the boxing ring itself as an advertising tool, and this is an advertising opportunity that you can offer to your higher-end prospective clients. Here are three ways to sell advertising on the boxing ring itself.

On The Ring Apron

The ring apron can be a valuable place for advertisers to claim in advance of your boxing event. In boxing, the term "apron" describes the canvas sheet that hangs vertically around the ring, spanning from the canvas to the floor. Visually, the ring apron is designed to hide the support structure beneath the ring, but this area can be a valuable place for advertising. Over the course of the evening, your group of spectators will be seated in plain sight of the ring apron, so any message on this area can have a significant impact.

On The Canvas

The canvas itself — the surface of the ring on which the boxers stand — is also an effective area on which to place advertisements. There are a few options that you can choose. One is to keep the canvas plain expect for one large sponsor's logo in the center. Another is to have one logo in the center, with some smaller logos in other locations. For the latter scenario, you can charge more for the center spot, given how it's in the center of the ring. Advertisements on the canvas are especially valuable if you're in a venue with sloped seating; those who are seated farther away, and thus higher off the ground, will have a good view of the canvas.

On The Corner Posts

Yet another option is to sell advertising on the corner posts. While the corner posts of a boxing ring are made of durable metal, they're wrapped in a padded protective layer to prevent injuries to the fighters. Boxing promoters commonly sell advertisements on these pads because of the exposure that they get — anyone who is watching the right, regardless of where he or she is seated, won't be able to avoid seeing the corner posts. If you're able to sell advertising on each of these locations, you can raise a significant amount of revenue to help offset the cost of your event.
